Adults require a lot of patience and understanding. They take up to 3 weeks to adapt to their
new surroundings and understand where they need to do their business.  We keep our dogs on a schedule so they are not use to asking to go outside. They are crate trained and will do well in a crate while you are at work and will take time to learn to trust you. Let them come to you and learn to trust you with a treat.  If you have another dog, give them a chance to get to know each other on their own.  Don't force it!  Our dogs are use to always having a full food bowl and water. They are use to eating alone so give them time to adjust to having to share if you have another dog.
